About Cheez-It Store
Cheez-It is a cheese cracker manufactured by the Kellogg Company through its Sunshine Biscuits division. Approximately 26 by 26 millimeters (1.0 by 1.0 in), the square crackers are made with wheat flour, vegetable oil, cheese made with skim milk, salt, and spices. Cheez-It crackers were introduced in 1921 by the Green & Green Company, a manufacturer of snack crackers based in Dayton, Ohio, and were marketed using the tagline “A Baked Rarebit. Sunshine Biscuits acquired Green & Green in 1932. Sunshine Biscuits became a subsidiary of the Keebler Company in 1996. Keebler, in turn, was acquired by Kellogg in 2001. Cheez-It is a baked cracker that is made from cheese and other ingredients, such as wheat flour and paprika. This baked snack is orange in color, has a cheesy taste, and has been said to be akin to a baked Rarebit. Alongside its original flavor, Cheez-It crackers come in a rather large range of flavors to choose from, such as Atomic Cheddar and Extra Toasty. This baked snack has a loyal fan base and has been around since 1921, when it was introduced the Green & Green Company. The history of Cheez-It began in Dayton, Ohio, where Cheez-It crackers were invented by the Green & Green Company. The company formed in the year 1907, with Weston Green as the company president. The company eventually set up shop on Cincinnati Street in Dayton, Ohio. Green And Green specialized in crackers and made several kinds, such as Edgemont crackers, Dayton crackers, and Flag crackers. On March 31, 1921, the Green Green company introduced Cheez-It crackers, which would go on to become its most popular legacy. Cheez-It is an orange colored baked cracker snack that consists of real cheese baked into wheat flour and spiced with flavors such as paprika, which is sometimes said to be what gives Original Cheez-It its unique flavor. Cheez-It crackers are about 1 square inch, technically being about 26 by 24 millimeters, or 1.0 by 0.95 inch in imperial measurements. While not technically a perfect square, Cheez-It crackers are often referred to as being square shaped anyway by many people, though it is really a rectangle. The snack has been referred to as “a dainty cheese cracker” when it was first released.
