We LOVE peanut butter! We started in 1998 with a shop that served nothing but peanut butter sandwiches. We weren’t satisfied with existing mass market brands and their questionable ingredients so we started making our own peanut butter from day one. All of our employees are as passionate as they were back when we first opened our sandwich shop. We may have grown since then, but we proudly remain 100% family owned and not part of any conglomerate. We put our whole hearts into everything we do and believe that having fun is just as important as working hard. Our products are certified by The Non-GMO Project, a nonprofit organization committed to preserving and building sources of non-GMO products, educating consumers and providing verified non-GMO choices. We work with the Peanut Institute, a non-profit organization supporting nutrition research and developing educational programs to encourage healthful lifestyles that include peanuts and peanut products. As peanut growers, a portion of the sales from our peanut crop goes to support the National Peanut Board, which works to improve the economic condition of USA peanut farmers and their families through compelling promotion and groundbreaking research. Our products are certified by Vegan Action, a nonprofit inspiring people to be vegan to improve human health, reduce environmental impact and eliminate animal suffering. We support the production of certified sustainable palm oil through RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil). RSPO is a not-for-profit that unites oil palm producers, processors or traders, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, banks/investors, and environmental and social non-governmental organizations, to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil. We understand food service because our company was founded in food service. In 1998 Lee Zalben opened a small sandwich shop in New York City’s Greenwich Village called Peanut Butter & Co. Never in our wildest dreams did we think our little blue and white storefront would become an international tourist destination and a mecca for peanut butter lovers, and that we would end up creating a new product category – gourmet peanut butter!
