A conventional Polish bride used to be a three or yet four time encounter. Generally, it was held outside in backyards, trees and barns. They were a celebration of life and the bounty of character. They still enjoy the wonderful food, song and vodka but it’s not quite what it once was.

On the evening of the bride, just before midnight ( or around it if a one- evening marriage), comes the famous festival known as “oczepiny”, the unveiling of the bride. At this point, the mask is removed and she dons her czepek – a helmet worn by Polish priestesses to reflect their status as engaged ladies. This is also when the longer locks are unbraided and cut small, as a symbol of her change from girlhood to femininity.

As the few leave the church hot eastern-european girl, guests wash them with coins and particles, to offer them luck and prosperity. They therefore change into their bash clothing. It is also traditional to chuck small, rounded coins into the child’s hair– whoever collects the most will get in charge of their finances.

The gathering begins, and you’ll find a lot of dancing going on. Poles believe that this reduces the side effects of too much eating. There will be a lot of foods also, including lots of different types of sweets, snacks and ice cream.
